OLT is the first book written by an Oromo theologian from Ethiopia. The book brought the Oromo people’s struggle for freedom into the academic discussion from the LT perspective. With a rich collection of sources, the book is well organized. The book made use of theories and themes of LT.
It   is grounded on concepts from sociology, philosophy, and anthropology. It is also enriched with the Oromo indigenous knowledge system and Biblical themes. The book introduces new ideas and presents convincing arguments that pursue the reader to use pre-Christian heritages to develop a theology of the people. It fascinatingly discusses that non-Christian religions such as Islam and Waaqeffannaa have fundamental components that deserve consideration when developing a theology that empowers the poor and discourages the oppressors. The book provides substantial discussions about social justice. Besides, it challenges Church leaders in Ethiopia, particularly, in Oromia not to normalize dehumanizing conditions that are imposed on the powerless by the despots but to become a voice for the voiceless. Furthermore, this book is an essential book for teachers and students of LT.
