John Martin (Martin Ell) spent the first fifteen years of his career as a Customs Officer in post war New Guinea. 

The second fifteen years he spent in Sydney as writer, Script Editor and Producer in Television drama, with the Australian national broadcaster, ABC.

His final stint in television was spent as an Executive Producer/ Consultant with the experimental phase of a prospective multicultural channel. Its success led to a second national channel, Special Broadcasting Service SBS, where he remained as its Head of Production.

He is married to a Swedish national and works out of Stockholm and Sydney.
